Pacific Grove's annual Butterfly Parade, a tradition that goes back almost three-quarters of a century, is held on the first Saturday of every October. The Butterfly Parade, as well as the Butterfly Bazaar that follows, celebrates the return of the Monarch butterfly to Pacific Grove, the beautiful insects' annual wintering stop. This parade, which first took place in 1939, attracts people from both near and far to view the adorable children in their cute costumes.
Traditionally, kindergarten children dress as butterflies, second graders dress as otters, third graders dress as farmers, fourth graders dress as pioneers, and fifth graders dress as clowns. The Butterfly Parade takes place on Saturday, October 5 beginning at 10:30am. The parade starts at the Robert H. Down School on Pine Avenue and will head down Fountain Avenue to Lighthouse Avenue, up 17th Street and concludes on Pine Avenue by returning to the school. A Butterfly Bazaar will follow after the parade.

Evening with Leo Kottke

**  An Evening with Leo Kottke  **
October 12
9th and San Carlos Avenues

Few players have done as much for the state of their instrument as Leo Kottke, and even fewer have seen the level of success that he has as a largely instrumental artist. Stretching his fingers around jazz, bluegrass, rock, and Americana, Leo plays in an odd language. His finger-picking and extensive use of open tunings make him a tough player to pigeonhole, and a mesmerizing act to see. In spite of partial hearing loss and tendon damage in his right hand, Leo has remained one of the most impressive and consistent players in the business, attaining an almost mythical status in the guitar community. Kottke has remained prolific throughout his career, releasing twelve albums and branching out in collaborations with artists from Lyle Lovett to Phish's Mike Gordon.
Everly Brothers Experience

**  The Everly Brothers Experience **
October 17
Forest Theater
Santa Rita Street & Mountain View Avenue

Sunset Presents at Forest Theater proudly brings you The Everly Brothers Experience -- a fresh, youthful, and totally unique take on an Everly Brothers concert, spanning the 1955-1970 era and featuring all of their timeless classics, as well as historic facts interwoven between songs. Since 2016, brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed along with their partner and drummer Burleigh Drummond, have celebrated the pivotal music and history of The Everly Brothers legacy with enthusiastic crowds in prestigious venues all across the United States and overseas">"The music of the 50's and 60's are nostalgic for us, our parents raised us all on it, and we feel that the Everly's contribution is greatly overlooked, especially by younger generations. Our aim is not to impersonate but to do our best in honoring the aesthetics of their iconic sound and in honoring the important role they played in pioneering the Rock n' Roll movement, all while having a little fun sharing our own personal story."
Nosferatu at Frest Theater

F.W Murnau's Nosferatur underscored LIVE by the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra
October 25
9th and San Carlos

Get into the spooky Halloween spirit with the classic silent film Nosferatu the way it was intended to be seen, accompanied by a live orchestra! Released in 1922, Nosferatu is considered one of the most foreboding and influential horror films in the history of cinema. In this first-ever screen adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, what is supposed to be a simple real estate transaction leads an intrepid businessman deep into the heart of Transylvania, and the castle of the otherworldly Count Orlok, portrayed by the legendary Max Schreck in a performance which has spawned its own mythology. But is the Count just the wealthy eccentric that he appears to be or something much more sinister? This cinema classic is accompanied live by the twelve piece Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, hailed as "the premier American ragtime orchestra" by the Washington Post. Formed by conductor Andrew Greene in 2010, the orchestra recreates the syncopated stylings of a bygone era -- ragtime, theatre, and dance music, along with underscoring classic silent films using the original orchestral scores, and has performed at numerous leading venues, including The Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, and the American Film Institute. Travel back to the roaring 20s with us and see Nosferatu as it would have been screened originally, with its hauntingly beautiful authentic musical score, in this performance perfect for music and film fans alike!
