30% off midweek stays (Sunday-Thursday) and
20% off weekend (Friday/Saturday) stays.

On Wednesday evenings we are hosting another of our popular series of beach-inspired, 1-hour guided meditations lead by the professionals from the Monterey Bay Meditation Studio. This is perfect for those of you already doing a meditation practice, those just starting or even just curious about meditation. No better place for a meditation than on serene Carmel Beach.

Linger after the meditation to enjoy our world famous sunset and join us for a beach bonfire featuring roasting s'mores! We will have other culinary treats and a private wine tasting from Scheid Vineyards. The Wednesday meditations and bonfire are private complimentary events only for registered Horizon Inn & Ocean View Lodge guests.

This is the ultimate one-of-a-kind coastal Carmel-by-the Sea experience. And it is our gift to you when you stay with us on a Wednesday evening in November!

Tours Depart from Downtown Monterey

Our Scenic Movie Tour of Monterey takes you through the many historic sites in the Monterey area that have appeared in countless films over the years. You'll explore the sites in downtown Monterey, Cannery Row, Monterey Bay, Pacific Grove, 17-MILE DRIVE® in Pebble Beach, and Carmel-by-the-Sea. This spectacularly fun land tour begins in downtown Monterey where one of our most historic sites, Colton Hall, has stood in as a girls boarding school in the movie A Summer Place and a court house in the movie The Big Bounce. Our Fisherman’s Wharf area has been used for scenes in several movies including I Cover the Waterfront, Play Misty for Me, The Candidate and P.K. & the Kid.

Travel through historic Cannery Row that has been the setting for many movies over the years including Clash by Night starring Marilyn Monroe and Barbara Stanwyck, and a few scenes in the movie, you guessed it, Cannery Row! Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was filmed at our world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. Visit the web site for dates, prices and the full itinerary, including the movies filmed in our own Carmel-by-the-Sea!

Military officials and city dignitaries, including the mayor, gather in Devendorf Park to honor Veterans of the nation's wars with a ceremony and speeches. Afterward, the American Legion Post in Carmel hosts an open house, to which veterans, friends and family are welcome.

The 60th Anniversary of Bossa Nova

Bossa Nova was born on July 10th, 1958 at the old Odeon recording studios in Rio de Janeiro. That's the date that Joa~o Gilberto recorded "Chega de Saudade"--Bossa Nova's very first song and the beginning of a musical and worldwide cultural phenomenon. Celebrate 60 years of Bossa Nova with multi-Grammy-winning producer, composer, keyboardist and vocalist, Sergio Mendes, one of the most internationally successful Brazilian artists of all time. Joining Mendes is Bebel Gilberto, the thrilling Bossa Nova vocalist and daughter of Joa~o Gilberto who is steeped in Bossa Nova music, having made her Carnegie Hall debut at age 9 on a Bossa Nova program with her mother, the singer Miu´cha, and saxophonist Stan Getz.

The event’s innovative tee placement system strives to see players from each tour hitting the same clubs into every green. The pros play from different tees, but compete for the same $300,000 purse.
Pros also rotate and play with teams of four amateurs each day. Following the first three rounds of tournament play, there is a 54-hole cut to the low 40 professionals and ties, plus the top 10 amateur teams and ties

One of the most anticipated events of the holidays, the city's Homecrafters' Marketplace features 100 vendors from Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties selling their own handmade crafts and artwork. The sale takes place in the parking lots of the city's Sunset Cultural Center.!
