Our Mindfulness Bonfire series returns in April! This is a complimentary guest experience every Wednesday evening.

We will meet in the Hotel lobby at 3:15pm and make our way down to the beach for a gathering at Carmel’s 13th Street Beach area (weather permitting) at 4 pm every Wednesday. You will be treated to a beach bonfire and a guided 60 minute “Mindfulness Session” led by an instructor from the Monterey Bay Meditation Studio.

This is a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and serenity of the area and enjoy a coveted Carmel activity like a local. Please wear comfortable shoes to get to and on the beach. Also, dress in layers as Carmel has micro-climates ranging in temperature. Light refreshments and wine will be provided. Guests are encouraged to remain after the meditation to enjoy the bonfire and our world-renowned Carmel sunset

Nathan Williams formed The Zydeco Cha Chas back in 1985, and since then has brought his unique take on this regional South Louisiana music to all corners of the globe. From Lincoln Center in New York to The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Nathan's music has crossed all barriers to speak to the very heart of his audience. Inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and honored in 2015 with the Zydeco Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award, The Cha Chas have been voted the top Festival Band in the country according to the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism and USA Today and have won the coveted Big Easy award for Best Zydeco Band for several years running.
Nathan and his band have been featured in The New York Times, Essence and People magazines, and on the cover of USA Today. They've appeared in films like In the Electric Mist as well as the soundtrack sharing credits with Michael Doucet and Buddy Guy and The Kingdom of Zydeco, and worked with artists as diverse as Cyndi Lauper on the album Creole Bred. Keepers of the Zydeco Flame, they are committed to keeping their Creole heritage alive.

February and March is prime time to see the gray whales, dolphins and killer whales as they migrate. Monterey Bay is a perfect spot for viewing as they come close to shore to feed in the Monterey Submarine Canyon. For an even closer look you can take a whale watching trip from one of the several tour operators, such as Chris' Whale Watching.
